Sometimes I Struggle with Writing

I dunno about any of you, but sometimes I struggle to write.

Okay, maybe a lot.

There are times when I sit down to write, and it feels like the thought of starting is painful.

Like I’m shoving against a brick wall.

Even if it’s fun writing, starting is still a struggle.

And you might be thinking, “but after you start, it’s easy, right?”

Sometimes.

There are times I start writing, and I’m relieved to find that it’s not as bad as I thought. The words start pouring from my fingers with ease.

But other times . . . it’s like yanking teeth.

Those other times suck, and there’s not a lot you can do.

Just try again tomorrow.

That’s where I’m at.

I haven’t been feeling great about writing (in case you couldn’t tell).

This writing slump has been hard to push through.

I’m not trying to be negative and discourage anyone from writing.

Quite the opposite, actually.

I want people to know they aren’t alone.

And despite all the complaining I did above, I still like writing and don’t plan on stopping.

Again, I’m just amidst the struggle, and I want to write and post SOMETHING to help me get unstuck.

Which may seem like a cop-out of a blog post for this month, and that’s fair enough.

So how about this:

I know there are plenty of people who also struggle with starting to write.

So if you’ve been struggling with writing, and you feel comfortable talking about it, discuss it in the comments below!

Whether it’s how you feel when you’re struggling to write, or methods you use to push past it.

Let’s have a conversation.

Maybe count how many times I said the word “struggle” in this post.

And as always:

Thanks for reading, and happy writing!
